Nothing Gold...

Nothing Gold Can Stay

by Robert Frost

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold,
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I always think of SE Hinton's book, "The Outsiders" when I see that poem. Were you thinking of the leaves, though?

Sad book.
I love the poem, and all our leaves are gone. We raked the last of them up this weekend...nothing gold can stay.
